First we stopped at an old train station on the way...
Getting ready to visit the island...
That greenery on the left there is the island!
We were excited about it!
In VanHorne's game room we spotted some interesting creatures!
The boathouse on the property...
It was pretty incredible... we didn't get too many pictures throughout the house, but you can peek at the website at the start of this post to see some more. Also William Van Horne is an incredible man, do you know who he is? If not, find out here! The island that we visited is accessible by car only during low tide when you can drive across the ocean floor, other times it is accessible by boat. It was also entirely self-sufficient when Van Horne lived there, chefs, butchers, etc. "Still standing on the island is the gigantic livestock barn which was home to his thoroughbred horses and prized herd of Dutch belted cattle. Among other things it housed a huge hay loft and a creamery where white-coated workers prepared the milk and butter for consumption."
Very cool!
What did you do this weekend?
That's awesome. Looks like a wonderful time!
