Love Day

I've been very slack with blogging lately. I actually have several half finished posts just sitting but I just haven't been finding the time to write. I miss blogging though and am looking forward to getting back into it more in the next few weeks during lent. Today I wanted to share a few little things from Valentine's Day that made me stop and smile.

Making tins of chocolate chip cookies for the neighbours who so generously helped snow blow the end of our driveway when the snow piled up. (3 of our neighbours have helped so far- what a blessing!)

Making a bunch of these tasty strawberry treats and sharing the recipe with you today! I actually adapted from this recipe which is Love, Pomegranate House's recipe for peppermint patties. All I did to make this strawberry instead was replace the peppermint extract with a strawberry jell-o package dissolved into 3tbsp of boiling water and I used strawberry cream cheese instead of regular. Of course I used a bit of red food colouring instead of green as well. I also didn't use the paraffin wax in the chocolate although it might have helped them stay harder at room temperature. They are seriously yummy though!

Going old school on my Valentine Card for the hubby this year.

There were so many other Valentine's Day blessings, like visiting family, a sweet card from my first Valentine (daddy!), spending time with my hubby (and the beautiful single rose he brought home), smiles with Elias and his Dr.'s appointment where we found out he is 90th percentile for height and 25th for weight. My little boy is long and lean!

How was your Valentine's Day?

  1. I can relate! I've been busy too and when I do have the time to sit and blog, there's so much to catch up on I'm not sure where to begin. Glad you had a nice Valentine's Day. We did too!

  3. Hi Melanie,

So glad your Valentine's Day was scrumptious! Literally too - the goodies look awesome. If you get tired of the cold and wet, bring the family to Mexico and you can make your sweet treats right here in my kitchen! The guest room is all set.

    Hugs,

    Carole
