Festive Wreath #4

Alright, it's time for my "it's-almost-spring" wreath.

I was inspired to create this wreath after seeing the following felt flower wreaths:

Aisle to Aloha who linked to meg's musings and take heart.

While I loved these wreaths, I decided to add my own twist. So here is how I created wreath number 4!

Instead of cutting the felt in a circle like the tutorial suggested, I just rounded the corners of a rectangular piece so I wouldn't waste any, then I cut the felt in a spiral like the tutorial at take heart described.

Half a piece of 8.5 X 11 felt made the largest flowers I created. I also made some that were a quarter of the sheet and some that were one eighth of the sheet (The smallest yellow ones on the wreath are 1/8 of the sheet of felt).

I also created two leaves by cutting leaf shapes out of the green felt. I then did a zig-zag stitch on the sewing machine about halfway down the centre. I used a needle to pull the top string through to the bottom of the leaf and tied a knot to secure.

Here are all my flowers before attaching them.

I decided to match my first wreath by attaching the flowers to a dollar store picture frame. I used a hot glue gun and attached the leaves first.

I attached the flowers working my way around.

Until I filled the whole frame.

To hang the wreath on the door I used some black ribbon I had and tied it in a bow.

Now it is hanging on our door!

Project Cost:
Dollar Store Frame: $1.50
Felt: $4.50

Total= $6!

I already had the glue gun and ribbon, but the ribbon was about $3 if you wanted to get it yourself!

What do you think?
